THE CORRELATION OF STUDENTS' HABITS OF WATCHING ENGLISH MOVIES AND THEIR LISTENING SKILL FOR THE ELEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS AT SMAN 1 TENGARAN IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2024/2025
The objectives of this research were: (1) To analyze the profile of eleventh-grade students' habits of watching English movies at SMAN 1 Tengaran. (2) To analyze the profile of eleventh-grade students' listening skills at SMAN 1 Tengaran. (3) To find out if there is a correlation between students' habits of watching English movies and their listening skills. This research used a correlational research design. The research was conducted with a sample of 35 students from class XI.1 at SMAN 1 Tengaran. Data collection techniques included a questionnaire to assess students' movie-watching habits and a listening test to evaluate their listening skills. The results showed that there was no significant correlation between students' habits of watching English movies and their listening skills, with a correlation coefficient of 0.075. The significance value was 0.667, indicating that the null hypothesis was accepted. This means that the habit of watching English movies does not significantly impact students' listening skills.
