Fadilah, Lestari Nur. 2025. “Investigating Students’ Learning Experience and Challenges During Learning Vocabulary: A Study at the Fourth Grade Students of SD Negeri Tingkir Tengah 01 Kota Salatiga”. A graduating paper, English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education faculty, State Islamic University (UIN) Salatiga. Counselor: Nur Muthmainah, M.Pd. This research aims to investigate the students’ experiences and challenges in learning English vocabulary. The method used a quantitative descriptive method with 19 students as respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed descriptively. The findings reveal that students generally have positive learning experiences, especially when lessons are well-structured and supported by various media that make learning interesting and easy to understand. However, students face challenges such as difficulties in pronunciation and spelling due to differences between English and Indonesian, struggle in recognizing and correctly writing vocabulary, and difficulty remembering new words without associating sounds with images. Additionally, comprehension of new vocabulary meanings remains a significant obstacle. Social factors, including feelings of shyness and fear of using English outside the classroom, also hinder vocabulary learning. These results suggest that although the teaching methods effectively create a supportive learning environment, teachers should focus more on strategies that enhance students’ motivation, pronunciation, spelling, memory retention, comprehension, and confidence in using English in real-life contexts.
